The Buick Regal is a high end mid-sized automobile that was first introduced by Buick for the 1973 model year. North American production ended in 2004 and started once again in 2011. For the 2011 model year, Buick re-introduced the Regal to the North American market, positioned as an upscale sports sedan. Production and sales in China have continued since 1999.
2019 Buick Regal Design
Last year, the Buick Regal went through a huge improvement that brought in a more coupe-like roofline, resulting in the “Sportback” name being slapped on this sedan. With this complete overhaul just a years of age, we anticipate no big changes to the 2019 Regal. For 2018, Buick completely renovated the whole look of the Regal. With its swoopy shape, sharp character lines, and coupe-like rear glass all still fresh, we expect absolutely nothing new here. We anticipate the exact same to prove true within, where it’ll retain its clearly European cabin.
2019 Buick Regal Features
Expect standard equipment to mostly stay the same. If this shows true, look for it to come with standard cloth upholstery, keyless ignition, rearview camera, 17-inch alloy wheels, 7-inch infotainment system, a seven-speaker audio system, and more.
2019 Buick Regal Engine
We also anticipate no changes under the hood. If this proves real, it’ll come with a basic 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horse power and 260 pound-feet of torque. This power will head through a nine-speed automatic transmission in front-wheel-drive models and an eight-speed automatic on all-wheel-drive models.
The IIHS has yet to carry out safety tests on the 2018 Regal, so we do not have any hard information to hand down. What we do know is that the all-important automatic emergency situation braking is readily available as a part of the optional Driver Confidence Package II. Provided all of its crash tests and the headlight test all turn in “Good” ratings then the Regal will get the Top Safety Pick+ status many car manufacturers strive.
2019 Buick Regal Pricing & Release Date
We anticipate the 2019 Regal’s production to start in late July of 2018, and for it to start striking showrooms shortly after that. Given it’s a carryover, we do not expect main prices to differ much from the current model, which varies from $25,915 to $39,995 (location fees included). Competitors will include the Acura TLX, Lincoln MKZ, and the Audi A4.
